Industrial design at Swinburne enables students to research, design and test ideas while harnessing technology to produce insightful and thought-provoking products. Our work addresses real world challenges through balancing high levels of creativity and technical capability all with a deep empathy for people. Experimentation, design for manufacturing, and human behaviour are a foundation of the course ensuring that design outcomes will be the spark to make change in today’s fast paced world.
My favorite thing about doing industrial design is the access to some awesome workshop facilities. I have really enjoyed using these facilities in almost all of my subjects as a way to get hands-on with projects. Over the the degree I have built all kinds of prototypes and even some real working products too which has been incredibly rewarding.
