Design Strategy & Innovation

Climate change, inequality, globalisation, rapid urban growth … and now, COVID-19. We live in times of extreme uncertainty, rapid change, and complexity. Not only the very existence of humanity is at stake, but also, our quality of life, prosperity, and overall happiness. These contemporary problems are often difficult to understand and solve; conventional logic and analytical based approaches to problem-solving appear to be insufficient.

This century, design thinking emerged and grew to become the preferred approach in addressing complex problems for organisations worldwide.

This course has motivated me to continue being curious to learn more and more about the world we live in, the people we share it with and how I can help solve problems we all face today through innovative design.

We respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which Swinburne’s Australian campuses are located in Melbourne’s east and outer-east, and pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We are honoured to recognise our connection to Wurundjeri Country, history, culture and spirituality through these locations, and strive to ensure that we operate in a manner that respects and honours the Elders and Ancestors of these lands.

We also acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners of lands across Australia, their Elders, Ancestors, cultures and heritage.
